Feedback is Essential
Not everyone might like sharing their eportfolios with others but I think it is important to do so. By doing so, it can help those that are having difficulty developing one whether you are a professional or student. As for myself, I would like to hear if I have any strengths and weaknesses. This should help me make my eportfolio more attractive and informative. Since my classmates are younger than me, I know that they are more technology savvy. Reflection is one of the best strategies that can assist us in shaping our eportfolios.
By the time a student graduates from high school, he/she should have a well-developed eportfolio that can follow him/her through college and work. Why is it important to have them share their eportfolio with their classmate? ISTE makes it important to “interact, collaborate, and publish with peers and contribute to project teams to produce original works or solve problems. The IB (International Baccalaureate) schools require a digital portfolio to be maintained throughout the student’s years. I wonder who can are they shared with and if their classmates can view and comment on them.
I just want to conclude that it is important for every teacher to develop a teaching eportfolio. This will help them to maintain information such as, lessons, links for resources and other pertinent related ideas/strategies. It can serve for two purposes: their future references and for any future interviews such as, for administration or any other higher paying position. With an impressive eportfolio in tow, they can have a very good chance of getting that position. Should they share it with other teachers? Why not? This will serve two purposes: they can receive critical feedback for improvement and can also assist those that are struggling with their own website.
