Creating a Learning Environment that will Impact my Innovation Plan

This type of learning environment is based on people's experiences that they deal with in their daily surroundings.  The learning can involve games and imagination.  We will try to augment learning as part of what we think of as "arc of life" learning.  This type of learning comprises the activities in our daily lives that keep us learning.

As an experienced teacher, I know that children, no matter their age, they like to play games/activities that captures their imagination especially when it involves technology.  We can succeed in students' learning by fusing vast informational resources with personal needs and actions.

Our students and educators are already internally motivated to share their information and cultivate new questions.   As Thomas and Brown (2011) described their book as not being about school reform but an exploration of how people of all ages are learning by doing asking fresh questions and working together to solve problems and seize opportunities.  By creating this learning environment, it can enhance my plan in enhancing learning.

IDEAS

CHALLENGES

  • Administrators and teachers will identify and group students into three groups: high, medium and low.

  • Strategies for each group will be be monitored to determined if the results on the scoreboard are moving upward.

  • Results have to be monitored to determine if students need to move to a different groups---goal is for all students to eventually move to the high group.

  • Administrators taking time to view how some of the activities are in action in the classroom.

  • Administrators supporting staff with all required supplies especially technology.

  • Celebrations need to occur for various results:  scoreboard results rising, teachers losing fear of technology, students success in learning while adjusting to middle school and any other goals that are accomplished in this endeavor.

  • The innovation plan needs to continue on campus for the years to come with additions and modifications made as the composition of  students changes throughout the years.

  • Train teachers to develop and implement intervention strategies.  They should incorporate activities for individual and group settings.

  • Teachers will be assisted by resourceful staff to develop to and implement strategies/activities on an on-going basis.

  • Teachers will involve students by integrating their ideas and experiences involving technology.

  • Hands-on activities should be included using Bloom's Taxonomy questions.

  • Teachers will be supplied with materials and any devices needed for their daily lessons.

  • Scoreboards will be developed and monitored to assure that grades/test scores are increasing while students are learning.

  • Administrators will be involved in the development, implementation and monitoring of the plan.  They will intervene immediately if any modifications need to occur.

How can my perspective be broad enough to become a foundational perspective that will influence my learning philosophy?

I plan to be a strong role model as a broad minded educator.  By demonstrating how other schools, students and educators have succeeded using the strategies that will be used in their campus, they will want to also succeed.  For those educators that are reluctant about technology and intervention strategies, they will be able to view videos, read articles and books in relation to what they need assistance with.  These educators will also be assigned a mentor that will assist them as needed.  By monitoring the teachers and students, modifications and adjustments will be provided.  Our vision is for all students to succeed and prepare them to compete with any other student in the world when they go out into the job market.
